So I previously wrote about how “Facebook Timeline is not optimized for businesses.” This still holds true in my book, but due to my desperation to hold on to the landing page feature I found a way to work around it.
In order have a “landing page” function within the new Facebook Timeline you need to do the following:
1.) I recommend that you fully utilize the new 810x1200pixel layout versus the older 520x1200pixel layout. This allows you to have more information and it fills the page nicely.
2.) You need to either have a profile where you can link to Facebook or have a website with a link/button to your Facebook account.
3.) Next instead of linking to your general Facebook account you need to link directly to the page you want to be the landing. That way when people click on your Facebook link they are directed to that page specifically.
This isn’t the same thing as having a landing page with the fan-gating feature, but it is the closest thing to it with the Timeline layout. Hope this helps you fellow Facebook landing page users.
